MNL launches its first annual Women’s Leadership Summit

St. John’s – MNL launches its first annual St. John’s, NL – Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) is excited to launch its first annual Women’s Leadership Summit.

The Summit will take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at the Delta Hotel in St. John’s. Hosted by MNL and in partnership with Professional Municipal Administrators (PMA), this event is designed for women – and those identifying as women – who are leaders in the municipal sector (councillors and administrators; including CAOs, Town Managers and Clerks).

Cost of the Summit is $100 (including HST), and registration is now open for this full day of inspirational speakers, group discussions and action planning.

Nominations are being accepted for awards of distinction honouring women in municipal government. Her Honour The Honourable Judy May Foote, P.C., O.N.L., Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador will attend the awards luncheon as guest speaker. Mayor Sheila Fitzgerald, Vice President of MNL and Chair of the Women’s Caucus, says she is thrilled to be a part of the conversation on how to support women in municipal leadership.

“Professionals in our sector are always looking to take things to the next level,” Fitzgerald said. “I want this Summit to be a resource for participants to expand their natural leadership skills. I believe what we’re bringing to the municipal sector through this event will inspire more young women to consider a career in local government.”
