MNL’s 74th Conference, Trade Show and AGM Now Underway
For Immediate Release
Nov. 7, 2024
The 74th conference of Newfoundland and Labrador local government leaders is now underway in Gander, as Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) members gather for the annual MNL Conference, Trade Show and Annual General Meeting.
We started today with a networking breakfast for women and gender diverse individuals in the municipal sector, featuring guest speaker Mount Pearl Deputy Mayor Nicole Kieley, followed by the presentation of the Leadership Awards for Women and Gender-Diverse Individuals.
Shaun Majumder brought MNL members to laughter many times during his touching and insightful keynote talk about rural revitalization in his hometown of Burlington, which was followed up by a fireside chat with Shaun, Burlington Mayor Rudy Norman and MNL Director of Programs Bradley Power.
There are many more sessions planned for the next few days, wrapping up on Saturday with the Appreciation Banquet and presentation of the Long Service Awards.
The MNL Conference, Trade Show, and AGM is the largest municipal gathering in the province, with more than 100 municipalities represented. The trade show component features more than 60 businesses and organizations.
“There are so many excellent sessions and so much important information being shared this week. Equally important is the opportunity for us to gather and to share our experiences and stories. We are inspired to do the important and necessary work of leading our communities.” – Amy Coady, MNL President.
We invite media to drop by the Joseph R Smallwood Arts and Culture Centre and the Steele Community Centre to talk to municipal leaders and hear about the challenges and successes of local government.
