Municipal Safety Symposium

To better meet our member’s needs, MSCNL is running concurrent sessions; the first is certification training focusing on frontline safety while the second provides current information relevant to councillors and administrators who are managing municipalities in the new millennium.

These sessions will be held at the College of the North Atlantic in Gander NL on September 17 & 18, 2018.

Training and development play an important role in the effectiveness of every municipality. Training has implications for productivity, health and safety at work and personal development. All municipalities need to train and develop their staff. Most Management are cognizant of this requirement and invest in training, while others are unaware of their OHS Responsibilities. Investment in training for municipal workers should be a number one priority! This two-day training session for municipal workers and firefighters are important training certifications needed to assist employees in completing a job safely and to comply with OHS Legislation.

Each front-line focus session is a 1/2 day (4 hours) training program and registered participants may select two sessions per day from the eight courses offered. These workshops will be held at the College of the North Atlantic in Gander NL on September 17 & 18, 2018.

Running concurrently at the Quality Inn and Suites will be “Managing Municipalities in the New Millennium”.  This workshop includes a selection of sessions offering councillors, employees and OHS representatives a diverse and valued choice of topics that include; cannabis in the workplace, stress management, emergency preparedness, Return to Work and PRIME – Are you getting your refunds?…and much much more!
