Municipal Awareness Day

Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) is proud to partner with Professional Municipal Administrators (PMA) and the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment to proclaim June 24, 2020, as Municipal Awareness Day in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Municipal Awareness Day highlights the services that our municipal councils and staff provide to the residents of our province. More than seventeen hundred municipal councillors and hundreds of dedicated staff work hard to make our municipalities more sustainable, prosperous, and safe.

Typically on this day, we aim to give residents a look inside the world of local government while also reaching out to the next generation of community leaders, municipal administrators and taxpayers. Given the current public health restrictions in place, we are encouraging communities to engage with residents while maintaining physical distancing and following public health protocols.

Tell us how you plan to engage the residents of your communities for Municipal Awareness Day, and we’ll share your stories on social media using hashtag #nlmuniday.
