WSER: The Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations and Proposed Amendments: Senior policy staff from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) will provide an overview of key elements of the regulations and discuss proposed amendments related to transitional authorizations and temporary bypass authorizations. There will also be updates on a proposal to develop a regulatory framework for wastewater systems in the North. This Northern Regulatory Framework would include wastewater systems north of the 54th parallel in Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec and the northern territories.

WERAC: Wilderness and Ecological Reserve Advisory Council. The Wilderness and Ecological Reserve Advisory Council (WERAC) has recently released a draft Protected Areas Plan for the Island of Newfoundland that proposes 32 new protected areas. A Home for Nature is the result of over 25 years of science advice, conservation planning, reserve site selection and assessment, resource industry assessments, discussions and negotiations. Phase one of consultations on this plan are open until October 1, 2020. At this time, WERAC is gathering initial feedback from the public about the Plan and about activities that are important to people within each of the proposed areas.
