Councillor Triffie Parsons, Centreville-Wareham-Trinity

For those who don’t know me, I am newly elected Councillor Triffie Parsons for the Town of Centreville-Wareham-Trinity (C-W-T). I am seeking your vote to represent you as the central region director for MNL.

I believe in our region and the impact we can have to enact necessary changes when we work together. Our region is made up of very diverse and unique communities, from small to large, but we all work together to accomplish goals and with MNL’s assistance we are heard and needed changes happen.

Why should you vote for me? I am a hard worker who believes in giving my best to my family, my friends, and my towns and I would give my best if chosen to represent our region.

I don’t let problems get in the way of finding solutions. I aim to gain understanding, knowledge and a perception of the issue to overcome the roadblocks and find a solution to move forward.

Most of you are familiar with me through MNL and/or PMA because at every event I have had something to say on topics that are important to us and I am not shy to speak on any issue that effects all of us. Moreover, if it is right for our region, I will support the right way to move forward to benefit all of our communities.

I believe in being involved, to help make a difference, and to be a voice for the issues in our region. I care deeply for our communities and want the best for them. My motto is, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” and I will find a way to make the things happen that we need in our region. I have overcome many obstacles in my life and know that if you want something bad enough you must put in the work to make it happen. I believe, as your representative, I can help us make things happen for the betterment of all our communities.

We need our towns to be sustainable, healthy, prosperous and strong. We can get there by working with each other and MNL. I would like to represent you and be your voice in accomplishing these goals.

However, what is important today is what you believe. If you believe I can and will represent your town and our region well then please vote for me to represent our region on the MNL Board of Directors.

Bio:

Newly elected Councillor Triffie Parsons has lived and worked throughout Canada. Triffie’s careers have spanned a wide variety of occupations including hospitality, retail, Oil & Gas and commerce before a severe car accident in 1992 had her unable to work for 18 years.

At the age of 48, through the Office of Employment Equity for Persons with Disabilities (OEEPD), she was able to take two short-term contracts with the Gov’t of NL’s Department of Finance. This encouraged her to return to college for re-training. She started her new career with two positions, as Office Manager for St. John’s Minor Baseball Association (SJMBA) and as a payroll clerk for the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District (NLESD). In 2016, she took the position of Town Clerk/Manager for the Town of Indian Bay, relocating to the Town of C-W-T (Centreville-Wareham-Trinity), while retaining her position with SJMBA for an additional year.

In 1994 she was told she had three to six months to live but she believes in the saying, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”, with the encouragement, support and strength of her three children and her family, she re-located to Vancouver to go on an experimental drug for the next 18 months and beat the odds.

Presently, her many hats include Councillor for C-W-T, Chair for the Indian Bay Ecosystem Corporation (IBEC), a Board of Directors member for the Central Regional Services Board (CRSB), a member of other committees, Town Clerk/Manager for Indian Bay and a proud grandmother of four.
