Cynthia Downey
Candidate for Western Director
I am the Deputy Mayor with the Town of Stephenville Crossing and entering my 33rd year on Council. I have been a member of the Western Regional Service Board as Vice Chair for the past four years and the Stewardship Association of Municipalities as a Director for the last 12 years.
I am a retired teacher and still substituting in our schools. I have been on the Board of Directors of MNL in the past. I am a Revenue Canada Volunteer for over 30 years. I enjoy being a member of our community who is involved with residents and organizations to build on our strengths and grow our communities in the Western Region and our Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Campaign Message
My name is Cynthia Downey, and I’m honoured to serve as Deputy Mayor of the Town of Stephenville Crossing. In my time on council, l’ve had the privilege of working with residents, community partners, and fellow leaders to make thoughtful decisions that move our town forward.
I’m running for this Board of Directors because I believe strong leadership means listening, collaborating, and making choices that reflect the best interests of the people we represent. I bring experience in municipal governance, planning, and community development, along with a deep commitment to transparency and accountability.
