Mayor Craig Scott

Urban Municipalities Director

First elected to council in 2013, and elected Mayor in 2017 and again in 2021, Craig Scott is a lifelong resident of Torbay where his family roots run deep. Craig was elected as the Urban Municipalities Committee Chair in 2018 and 2020 and is currently serving his second term as member of the Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador Board of Directors.

Craig was elected as the Urban Municipalities Committee Chair in 2018 and 2020 and is currently serving his second term as member of the Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador Board of Directors.

During his time on Council, Craig has become known for his commitment to openness, transparency, and a collaborative approach to governance. Qualities which he brings to his role with the Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador Board of Directors.

In his professional life, Craig has worked in a variety of sectors including Federal Public Service, Oil and Gas, Construction, Non-profit sector and currently employed with Bell Canada as a Mainframe Security Specialist.

Craig is heavily involved in his community, particularly as a volunteer, having served on several boards including the Jack Byrne Arena Board and Holy Trinity High School Council, North East Avalon Food Bank and the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Mayors Congress.

Craig is committed to working hard for the municipalities he represents and advocating on behalf of all municipalities as a member of the Board of MNL. As an organization we have a tremendous responsibility to ensure the viability of the municipal sector and I am proud to help find solutions to achieve that goal.
