Simulated Council Meeting for Youth

MNL has partnered with the NL Youth Parliament to jointly host a special youth municipal council meeting in Gander on Nov. 8 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Are you aged 15-24? Interested in being involved in your community? Local government is a great way to get involved! Experience being on a municipal council by applying to participate in a special simulated council meeting happening Nov. 8 in Gander.

Youth participants will have the unique opportunity to discuss and debate current municipal issues with their peers during this immersive simulation experience.

An orientation session will be provided the week prior to the event. Participants will be supported in preparing for the meeting by current municipal council members.

The deadline to apply is Oct. 7, 2024.

Use this form to apply to be one of the youth delegates for this event!

The youth municipal council meeting will occur during MNL’s Conference, Trade Show, and AGM. Please note, however, that being selected to participate in this event does not entitle participants to attend MNL’s Conference, Trade Show, and AGM.

Unfortunately, there is not funding available to support travel or accommodations for this initiative. Participants will need to confirm that they are able to facilitate their own travel to Gander for this event.

This opportunity is made possible by a joint partnership between Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador and the NL Youth Parliament, with support from the Town of Gander.
