This session introduces Healthcare Infusion – sharing tools and information on how municipalities can get involved and make a difference in this important work.
NL Health Services/Work in Health NL, The Department of Health and Community Services, and the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism work in collaboration in recruiting and retaining health care professionals and their families to Newfoundland and Labrador. This includes recruiting, assisting with immigration, welcoming upon arrival, and helping them settle into their new communities. Municipalities play a key role in helping newcomers settle in their new community – by helping them get integrated, connect with others, and access what they need and feel comfortable building a life here.
Healthcare Infusion is a national grassroots movement connecting healthcare professionals considering a move to Canada, with the local voices who can tell them what life here is really like. While not associated with the above mentioned, the platform is invaluable to our province’s recruitment and retention efforts, and municipalities have the opportunity to build these chapters in their areas.
Outcomes:
  • Learn about the strategies Newfoundland and Labrador are employing to recruit Physicians and Healthcare Professionals
  • Learn about the resources available, such as the Community Tool Kit
  • Learn about the role of the community in retaining Healthcare Professionals and their families
  • Learn about Healthcare Infusion and how your community can get involved
