The following information is provided for presenters at the 2026 MNL Conference, Trade Show, and AGM.
Your session title and description will appear on the event agenda page on the MNL website prior to the event and will help attendees decide which sessions they wish to attend. We will need the following information from you to include in our online event agenda:
The title needs to be both descriptive and entertaining, with the aim of getting the reader to continue to the description. The description needs to convince the reader that this session is worth attending.
Your description should include the following:
Example of a session description that uses the above framework
Session Title: Your wish is granted: how municipal finance best practices can improve access to grant funding
Session Description: Are your town's finances up to date? [1]. You're not alone. Many small towns across the province are unable to access grant funds because, for a range of reasons, municipal financial reporting is behind schedule [2]. In addition to contravening provincial legislation, municipalities are restricted from accessing municipal operating grants when their financial reporting is not up to date [3]. Find out how to rediscover the path to increased funding with Kim Noseworthy, MNL program co-ordinator for the Municipal Finance Services Program [4]. Since joining MNL in late 2024, Kim has already helped several towns become legislatively compliant and freed up access to millions of dollars in grant funding [5]. Join Kim for a look at the financial management timeline required to maintain accurate financial records and comply with provincial regulations [6].

MNL provides presenters with a complimentary one-day event registration for the day of your scheduled presentation. When registering, you will be asked to indicate which days of the event you are attending. If you wish to attend the event for additional days, we will issue a prorated invoice based on cost of meal packages for additional days selected on the registration form.
During the registration process you are asked what days you plan to attend and if ONLY attending the day of your presentation, you will NOT be charged.
The room set-up is typically theatre style. Lecture format works; engagement is welcome and time for Q&A is expected by our members. MNL strongly encourages leaving five to 10 mins for questions/discussion at the end. Visuals (such as a slide deck) and engagement tools (e.g. Slido/Mentimeter) are appreciated and will help to improve audience engagement.
MNL does not typically require presentation materials prior to an event. MNL requests that presenters send copies of slide deck and any handouts distributed (if applicable) once finalized. Please provide these in PDF format. MNL will share these on our website following the event. These should be sent to Tobias Romaniuk, MNL Communications and Marketing Officer, tromaniuk@municipalnl.ca.
