Tracy Penney

Central Director Nominee
Councillor,
Gambo

My name is Tracy Penney and I am a councillor for the municipality of Gambo. I am thirty-six years of age, happily married, a step-parent of two, and a second generation entrepreneur.

I bring with me energy for the long term, an intense enthusiasm to learn, and a deep passion for advocacy. I have fresh perspectives and I am dedicated to making the world a better place in any capacity that I can. Most importantly, I am eager to prove that work ethic has not been lost. I was raised by hard working Baby-Boomer parents and they instilled in me how important it is.

When I became of legal voting age, politics became a huge passion of mine. In my past, I have served as a delegate to the Executive Council of Carpenters, Millwrights, & Allied Workers. I have volunteered on government campaigns at both the Provincial and the Federal levels. I served in the Naval Reserve Forces for two years before entering into the skilled trades industry. I successfully obtained my journeyperson certification in Scaffolding and then life had other plans. Upon moving home from Edmonton, Alberta in 2019, I had to completely start over. In 2021, I opened a home-based doggy daycare which I enjoy every day. Alongside my family life, business career, and political aspirations, I am passionate about gardening, music, and softball.

Message to MNL Members

We are a vast array of tight-knit communities nestled anywhere from the arctic tundra of the Big Land to the coastline of the southern shore; From the peaks of Gros Morne to the cliffs of Cape Spear. In the midst of the Atlantic Ocean. As Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, our history has repeatedly proven the level of hardship that we can endure.

What does that mean today? Three words: Excellent. Leadership. Potential.

Many of us choose to reside in smaller communities, often in outport settlements. Those of which happen to be outstretched over thousands of linear kilometres of lush and rugged landscape. Why, you may ask? Because it is who we are and who we always have been. It is a pride that we all know and share as Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

Voting delegates of Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador, please grant me the honour of serving as your Central Regional representative on the Board of Directors. I know I am a new and unfamiliar face this year… Let me assure everyone, my youth is not to be mistaken as a lack of vision, experience, or tenacity. Help me help you be the change we need. Failure is not an option, thus we shall not fail.

Thank you in advance for your support and consideration.
