History

Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) formed in 1951 to represent the interests of the growing number of municipal councils in the province. At that time, there were approximately 50 incorporated municipalities in the province. Today there are 274 incorporated municipalities representing 89 percent of the provincial population. Nearly all of these councils are paying members of MNL and drive our considerable advocacy and policy efforts.
