MNL Encouraged by the Government’s Support of Municipal Progress in Throne Speech

Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador was pleased to hear in the Throne Speech that the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has listened to the needs of towns and cities across the Province.

Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) is encouraged by the Provincial Government’s commitment to sustainable municipalities, and we look forward to continued collaboration as we work to transform promises into progress.

As shown in the commitments named in the Throne Speech, the Provincial Government has been listening to the needs of municipalities across Newfoundland and Labrador. These commitments include: a long-term municipal infrastructure plan; improved cell phone coverage; doubling the tax credit for volunteer firefighters; resolving long-standing concerns around Crown Lands; improving rural policing services; addressing climate-related impacts; and addressing rural healthcare concerns.

MNL looks forward to continued progress and collaboration as we work to collectively build vibrant, sustainable communities in Newfoundland and Labrador.

“MNL has been meeting with the Government for several months now, and we have had many conversations about the needs of municipalities. We were pleased to hear in the Throne Speech that the Government is listening and is actively working toward solutions that will benefit all municipalities.” – Amy Coady, MNL President.
