Campaign Message
My name is Isabelle Fry, and I’m honoured to offer myself as a candidate for Vice President of Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador. As someone who has spent much of her life in community service – as a councillor, volunteer, and proud Newfoundlander and Labradorian – I am deeply committed to strengthening our municipal sector, and ensuring that every community has a strong and equal voice at the table.
I’ve had the privilege of serving on Mount Pearl City Council since 2017, and as a resident of mycommunity for over 30 years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the power and strong tradition of local leadership. My roots in Bonavista and Summerville continue to remind me that every community, no matter its size, contributes something vital to the fabric of our province.
Beyond Council, I’ve been fortunate to serve in leadership roles that connect our municipalities at every level – as Chair of the Northeast Avalon Joint Regional Council, Co-Chair of the Municipal Mental Health Task Force, and as a Newfoundland and Labrador representative on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board of Directors, among others. These experiences have given me valuable perspective on the challenges and opportunities we share across regions – from growing sustainable local economies and investing in infrastructure and services, to supporting mental health, housing, and inclusion in our communities.
Professionally, I’ve worked for over 26 years in community economic development, helping people and places realize their full potential. I also served for two decades as Executive Director of the Miss Teen Newfoundland & Labrador Pageant, where I had the privilege of mentoring young leaders, and celebrating the vibrant towns, festivals, and community spirit that define our province. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of people – that strong, connected communities are built by collaboration and compassion, and are deserving of celebration.
If elected Vice President, with your support, I will bring those same values to the MNL Board. I believe that great strength lies in listening – in ensuring that voices from every corner of Newfoundland and Labrador are heard and respected. I am committed to being approachable, responsive, and inclusive, and to working collaboratively with all members to advance shared priorities such as infrastructure renewal, sustainable funding, and community well-being.
Together, we can continue to build a strong, resilient municipal sector – one that supports our towns and cities today while preparing for the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.
Thank you for your confidence, your engagement, and the incredible work you do every day for your communities. I would be honoured to have your support as Vice President of MNL, and I look forward to continuing this important work – together.
