The case for co-op housing is clear. Co-ops support affordability, stability, and community control. They also help keep housing in the non-profit sector over the long term, which matters for communities trying to build lasting housing solutions. In this session, two housing co-operative resource guides will be introduced to municipal leaders in N.L., which include a menu of actions they can take without becoming the developer or housing operator. The resource guides were developed by Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada, the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Co-operatives and the Co-operative Housing Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.
