The Honourable Chris Tibbs

Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs,
Government of Newfoundland and Labrador
Related Sessions

Chris Tibbs is a man shaped by service, resilience, and a deep love for Newfoundland and Labrador.

From the front lines as a paramedic and firefighter, to working abroad in Ireland’s tourism industry, to the demanding world of oil and gas, Chris has built his life on hard work and showing up when people need him most. Those experiences did not just build a career. They built a character grounded in compassion, strength, and real world understanding.

At home, he is a devoted husband and a proud father to two young men. Roles that continue to guide his values and his commitment to building a better future for the next generation.

Chris served as the MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor Buchans, earning the trust of his community through steady leadership and a genuine connection to the people he represents. Today, he serves as the Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs, and as Minister responsible for Environment Conservation and Climate Change, carrying forward that same commitment to communities across Newfoundland and Labrador.

He is a proud Newfoundlander who believes in community, in people, and in lifting others up, especially when they need it most.

A passionate advocate for mental health and awareness, Chris has been a strong voice for change in Newfoundland and Labrador. His continued advocacy played a meaningful role in the creation of the Lionel Kelland Hospice, the first and only hospice of its kind in the province, ensuring dignity, care, and compassion for individuals and families during life’s most difficult moments.

Chris Tibbs is more than a public servant. He is a man of action, a champion for people, and a steady presence for the communities he serves, driven by a simple belief, when we take care of each other, we build something stronger together.
