Yvonne Rumbolt-Jones

Yvonne Rumbolt-Jones is a respected leader, author, and advocate whose career spans more than three decades of public service to the people and communities of Newfoundland and LabradorShe has served at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels of government, including as Member of Parliament for Labrador, Member of the House of Assembly, Cabinet Minister, and Leader of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador. Throughout her career, she has championed rural and northern communities, focusing on economic development, infrastructure, and building strong partnerships with Indigenous governments and communities through industry sectors like mining and fisheries, energy projects.  
 
Her leadership began at the municipal level, where she developed a deep appreciation for the role local leaders play in shaping strong, resilient communitiesan understanding that continues to guide her work today. 
 
Yvonne is also the author of Just Around the Corner a personal memoir reflecting on life in public service and the experiences that shaped her path. Growing up in a northern indigenous and isolated community she comes from a background of resilience and perseverance and tremendous pride. Her writing brings a message of resilience, reflection, and possibilityShe is the co-founder of Daffodil Air, supporting cancer patients in Newfoundland and Labrador in accessing treatment, and has served as board member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Cancer Care FoundationYvonne recently completed her Master’s in Arctic and Subarctic Studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland, with research focused on the future role of the Canadian Rangers in Arctic and Northern defence and sovereignty

A thoughtful and engaging speaker, she brings a message grounded in experience, community, and leadershipencouraging others to lead with purpose and to recognize the impact they can have close to home.
