Charles Bown is the Chief Executive Officer of the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB), leading efforts to promote sustainable waste management in Newfoundland and Labrador through waste diversion programs and public education. A long-time public servant with over 35 years of experience, he has held multiple senior executive roles in economic development, natural resource management, and public finance. Before joining MMSB in 2020, he served as Deputy Minister in the Departments of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, Natural Resources and Executive Council. His career also includes roles with the Advisory Council on the Economy, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, and the Department of Finance. He started his career with the Petroleum Directorate within the Provincial Government and is a graduate of Memorial University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
