Evan has been a firefighter for the past 17 years. He has previously served with the Trinity Bay North And Georges Brook-Milton Fire Departments. Currently, Evan serves as Training Officer of the Clarenville Fire Department where he has been a member since 2014. He is a regional trainer with the provincial government’s Fire & Emergency Services Division and has been a board member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services (NLAFS) from 2016-2020 and again from 2024-2025. He is currently serving his first term as the NLAFS President.

Evan has also served on multiple provincial NLAFS committees over the years including: Critical Incident Stress Management, Finance, and Constitution. Evan is also a member of the Triple Bay Eagles Ground Search And Rescue organization based in Clarenville, having been a part of that group for the past four years. In 2023, Evan was presented a Luminary Award from takecharge NL for his efforts in training over 400 firefighters from all over the province in Electric Vehicle Safety for First Responders. As a designated Red Seal Journeyperson in the Automotive Service Technician Occupation, Evan has the expertise to deliver training that prepares first responders for incidents involving alternate fuel vehicles in emergency situations.
