2025 Municipal General Election Review

Now that the 2025 Municipal General Election has concluded, the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs is inviting MNL members to take part in a collaborative session focused on strengthening future municipal elections. The session will begin with a brief presentation highlighting election outcomes and key data, followed by an open discussion where members can share their experiences and suggestions for improvement.

This session will mark the beginning of Government’s review of the Municipal Elections Act.

Members will gain deeper insight into the 2025 Municipal General Election through highlights of outcomes, councillor demographics, and emerging trends.
They will also have a valuable opportunity to share feedback with the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs and to explore practical, forward-looking enhancements to the municipal election process—together with peers and Department representatives.
