MNL selected to help municipalities in NL make stronger infrastructure decisions
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) chose MNL to provide municipal asset management guidance. Training will be collaborative, ensuring elected officials and staff across a number of communities are working together and learning from one another, while building their asset management capabilities.
The grant for this work is funded through FCM’s Municipal Asset Management Program, a five-year, $50-million program, delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada. MAMP is designed to help Canadian municipalities strengthen infrastructure investment decisions based on sound asset management practices. The program provides asset management training, funding and information sharing to enable municipalities to access the data needed to plan effectively.
Municipalities Newfoundland & Labrador (MNL) was formed in 1951 as an umbrella organization mandated to represent and support local government in Newfoundland and Labrador. MNL represents the 275 incorporated municipalities in the province that service 89 per cent of the population and their more than 2,000 leaders.
