MNL Congratulates Incoming Government
For Immediate Release
Oct. 15, 2025
St. John’s – Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) extends congratulations to the winning candidates of the 2025 Provincial election. We look forward to working with all parties to progress the municipal sector in our province.
During the election campaign, MNL urged candidates to consider municipal concerns that require provincial attention. Municipalities across the province are struggling with a range of wastewater and drinking water challenges. These challenges are well beyond the financial capacity of local governments, and require urgent attention from the province.
Public safety, local services, and adequate access to healthcare are also ongoing challenges, as is the need for updates to legislation directly impacting municipalities, including the Crown Lands Act, Urban and Rural Planning Act, Municipal Elections Act, and the three Cities Acts.
MNL remains optimistic that the incoming Progressive Conservative government will uphold the election promises made to municipalities, and we look forward to working with all parties as we work collectively to build vibrant, sustainable communities.
“MNL and the Provincial Government have a long history of working together to improve the lives of all Newfoundland and Labradorians. We look forward to working with incoming MHAs and party leaders to continue progressing the municipal sector.” – Amy Coady, MNL President.
