Campaign Message

Every day, I count myself lucky to live, work, and grow in one of the most diverse and beautiful regions on earth, the Avalon. While each community and person are as diverse as the towns and cities we represent, we are all united by our shared sense of belonging and pride for this place we call home.  For most of my life, this community has inspired me to serve and give back, both professionally and personally.

With 20 years of experience leading community-based organizations and shaping government social policy, I have had the privilege to do just that. I have championed projects and solutions that break down barriers and help build thriving communities. While I am proud of my successes and impact, much of my work is rooted in the support, mentorship and contributions of many.

As I move into my consecutive term as Deputy Mayor of Mount Pearl, I know that prosperity and growth within our communities is only possible when we work together and put people first. I have witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by the people in this region daily. I also understand that the work towards addressing barriers, while challenging, is underway.

I am not a stranger to overcoming adversity. After becoming an above-knee amputee and wheelchair user, my commitment to ensuring that all our voices are heard and valued has only deepened. Diversity sparks innovation, lasting solutions and is our strength.

Just as it is vital to respect and understand the unique challenges of our communities, I also recognize the deep connection between municipal, provincial and federal matters. Clean drinking water, waste management, fire and emergency services, safe roads, the cost of living, healthcare, housing and employment, while may not fall under our municipal purview, have a major impact on our town and city budgets, asset management, and our future. As your representative, I will advocate for our provincial and federal leaders to be engaged and accountable to their commitments and roles in supporting the social and economic health of our region and province.

As your Avalon Director, my commitment to you is simple:

● Putting the Avalon Region at the heart of every decision.
● Fostering cooperation, collaboration, and partnerships that strengthen our region’s economic and social prosperity.
● Advancing and supporting resolutions, actions and plans that respect the diversity and issues of our region’s towns, cities and people.
● Being an engaged and accessible Director that serves Municipalities NL and its members with purpose, integrity and hard work.

I believe that lasting change happens when people come together with intention, respect, and a shared purpose — to build a future where everyone prospers and can call home.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
