Campaign Message
My name is Clarence Brown, and I am a councillor with the Historic Town of Hearts Content, located in Trinity Bay. I am seeking your support as I run for the position of Avalon Director for Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL).
Experience with Municipalities
Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with municipalities across the province. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the challenges involved in running a community efficiently. Over the years, I have received comprehensive training, professional development, and leadership opportunities by collaborating with various municipalities.
In my professional journey, I have closely partnered with Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador, Newfoundland Public Works, and Professional Municipal Administrators. My involvement includes providing support, delivering training, and participating in trade shows, all of which have broadened my perspective on municipal politics.
Municipal Governance
My career has been deeply rooted in municipal governance, where I have worked extensively with communities across the province. This experience has provided me with a strong understanding of the complexities and challenges involved in running municipalities effectively. By engaging with various municipal leaders and organizations, I have benefited from comprehensive training and professional development opportunities that have strengthened my skills in community management. My commitment to municipal governance is reflected in my dedication to efficient operations and the pursuit of collaborative solutions that meet the unique needs of each community.
Leadership and Project Management
I bring experience from working with international, federal, and provincial municipalities and cities. My leadership extends to managing infrastructure projects not only in Newfoundland and Labrador, but also in Nunavut and on an international scale.
As the leader of a multi-million-dollar business operating in Atlantic Canada and Nunavut, I have honed my expertise in infrastructure solutions and problem-solving. My background also includes serving as a director for the Heavy Civil Association of Newfoundland & Labrador and dedicating my time as Vice President of the Atlantic Provinces Waterworks Association (APWWA). I am co-chair of the Heart’s Content Development Corporation, Chairperson of our UNESCO Committee, co- chair of our Hearts Content Valentia community initiative committee and chairperson for the Trinity Conception Joint Councils.
Commitment to Community and Diversity
Through managing a large business in Atlantic Canada, I have gained valuable insight into the complexities of infrastructure and the importance of listening to the community’s needs and aspirations. My work with Aboriginal businesses and partnerships in Nunavut and throughout Newfoundland and Labrador has further enriched my understanding of inclusive leadership.
